Kia Ora – Gold Lake
Kia Ora Fishery
Knowle Ln, Cullompton EX15 1PZ
General description
Kia Ora Gold Lake is one of two water on this complex. It is roughly 2 acres in size and features several islands. The depth is fairly uniform ranging from 2ft to 6ft in places. Set only a mile from Collumpton, the lake was purpose built by the club in 2000 and it has now matured nicely with plenty of bank side vegetation. The fishery is very peaceful and set amongst farmland and even though it is a very prolific fishery it never gets too busy.
Known Species
Gold Lake is heavily stocked with both common and mirror carp to 20lb as well as crucians. Other species include tench, F1s, roach, rudd, bream, perch etc… Due to the high stocking, the carp are quite easy to catch and big hits are not uncommon. Simple ledger tactics using corn, meat or pellet are all successful. Many anglers choose to fish a pole or waggler set-up which can also lead to large nets of fish.
